Van Driver / Loader

Salary: £28,080.00 per annum plus Veolia benefits

Hours: 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day, Monday - Friday, 4am start time

Location: Croydon, CR0 4XB

What you’ll be doing;

  • Driving company vans safely and professionally in line with road traffic legislation and company procedures
  • Carrying out daily vehicle walk around checks and reporting defects
  • Collecting commercial waste and recycling from customer premises
  • Loading and unloading waste containers safely and efficiently
  • Ensuring all collections are completed on time and in line with service schedules
  • Using in-cab technology and mobile devices to complete route information and report issues
  • Reporting contaminated bins, missed collections, access issues or customer concerns
  • Maintaining a high standard of health & safety at all times
  • Delivering excellent customer service and representing the business professionally
  • Supporting depot operations and assisting other crews when required
  • Keeping vehicles and work areas clean and tidy

What we’re looking for


Essential:

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Strong awareness of health & safety
  • Reliable, punctual and hardworking attitude
  • Ability to carry out manual handling tasks
  • Ideal candidates will be enthusiastic about progressing to HGV driver training as part of their career development with us

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in waste collections, logistics or driving roles
  • Experience using handheld devices or route management systems
  • Knowledge of commercial waste and recycling streams
  • Van driving experience in busy urban environments
