Location: Moat Lane Depot, Solihull 

Pay: £37,964.16 Annually, plus Veolia benefits

What you'll be doing;

  • To drive and be responsible for the safe operation of a wide range of refuse collection vehicles.

  •  To work as a loader as and when required to which you will need to be available to collect bins, bags and other certified items from residents. This work involves outdoor working in all types of weather.

  • To undertake daily vehicle (Check Safe) checks to ensure that the vehicle and equipment is roadworthy and in good working order and adhere to vehicle weight restrictions in accordance with the Council’s Operators Licence.

  • To undertake maintenance and cleansing of the vehicle/equipment,internally and externally in accordance with the manufacturer's operating manual and the Council’s Operators Licence, reporting defects as soon as they become apparent.

  • Report any accidents that occur during your shift to the manager and all accident reports are completed before you leave work

  • Comply with any site conditions ensuring Health & Safety procedures are followed and appropriate Veolia PPE is worn at all times

  • To accurately complete appropriate forms/paperwork or electronic tablet allocated work

  • Ensuring the road is left clean and tidy following collections, including bins placed back on the boundary and all spillages cleared

  • Emptying bins or collecting bags from premises . This includes domestic waste , green waste and recycling. Boxes are sometimes used in the way of collecting glass.

  • To transport refuse containers (dustbins, sacks, paladins, wheelie bins etc) and/or excess refuse from storage location to refuse collection vehicles.

  • To be able to interpret work programmes and schedules and complete daily and weekly bonus sheets, time sheets and vehicle checklists.

  • Emptying refuse containers and/or loading refuse into refuse collection vehicles.

What we're looking for;

Essential:

  • Valid UK Driving Licence 

  • Experience of working as part of a team with good communication skills at all levels is necessary

  • Basic understanding of Health & Safety at work

  • Ability to work on own initiative and part of a team

Desirable:

  • Experience in a similar environment would be preferred although full training will be given
